Bridging the Gap Between Women and Wellness

Spring!

by Kellie Kuecha

Although it may not be spring where you are just yet, this time of year in Florida is like a beautiful Northern Spring day!  In previous years as the cold New Jersey weather would break, it instantly would change my over all spirits and suddenly I was inspired to do the things I wouldn't normally do such as, washing the windows and spring cleaning my attic and basement!  This spring life is different for me because of the Women's Wellness Society.  Instead of taking so much time to clean out the cob webs in my home, I have taken that time to clean the cob webs in my life.  What I mean by that is my original desire in forming this group was to surround myself with enough like minded  practitioners that could help me in my own personal quest for better health, from my head to my toes.  I decided that 2006 was the year I would get rid of my nagging back pain, get in great shape, work on personal/mental growth like I had never done, address healthy breast and colon issues and a whole host of other things I won't mention!  Only two months into the year  I am half way through my list and I already feel like a changed woman!

I say this to all of you because we all have the same  equal opportunity for this  empowering mental,  physical  and spiritual growth through WWS and our Butterflies challenge.  I wanted to give you all the same amazing opportunities that I have had to improve my life and health through Butterflies with simply just committing to stick with it for three months.  Although we are offering great prizes, the real grand prize is a healthier you!

In doing my internal spring cleaning, I decided to write a letter to an old friend and business associate a few weeks ago.  I will admit it was not an easy thing to do but now, I am at peace knowing it is done.  Most of us have a relationship in our lives that may not have ended on the best note and perhaps we are  content with never confronting that person or  addressing that matter again.  However, if you are like me, your consience is nagging at you to close those doors in a more positive light, even if it means saying you were sorry while knowing you weren't the only person at fault.  I believe that is what separates those of us who can experience true health from those of us that get sick as a result of our bottled up anger and emotions.  I can't count the number of  times I have read studies and    heard  testimoni als about cancer that came about due to an unsettling life or supressed emotions.  I will not allow myself to go there and I hope you don't either.

In preparation for the letter, I questioned how I would feel if I did not get a response.

I questioned how I would feel as soon as I hit send on my computer, and most of all I envisioned the overwhelming sense of closure that I would feel if I just did it!  So I decided to just do it! Sure I struggled with the what ifs, but I had already decided that I would come out a winner either way.  If we were able to reconcile, I would win, and if that person did not write back, I would also win because I had the courage to do the work that they were not willing to do, both during our relationship and now.  It is always easier to walk away but it takes lots of courage to move ahead resolving any and all past misunderstanding.  I understand now that people who find fault in us most times are merely projecting their own insecurities onto  us and we become a mirror for the issues that they face within themselves.  I am more conscious of my own existence now and can also forgive easier knowing these things! Writing that letter brought an overwhelming sense of closure to my life and I can honestly say I feel tremendously better energy as a result.

Wherever you live, know that you are part of an amazing group of women that are here to help you in doing your spring cleaning, whatever that may be.  If you just reach out and ask you will find yourself being submerged into one of the most loving and supportive environments that exists for women today!

February has been a great month as we had an amazing Valentine's Party and also launched our Boynton Beach chapter.  Kudos to everyone who participated in those two wonderful events!  My husband and I also renewed our vows before our close friends and family this month and I feel blessed to also have such an amazing life partner who supports me in all that I do.  There is just something about that spring weather and Valentine's Day that puts a lot of love in the air every February for me!

In March I will be sharing much needed information on Environmental Wellness at the Central Boca and Delray Chapters.  I will  also be sharing  this information via tele-class and web-cast seminars.  I hope to see all of our members come out to get this vital information!

Please let me know how I can be a support to you in your life this year.  If I can't help you, I sure know many women who can.  Don't  forget our amazing S.O.S. support system if you are ever in need of help.  Enjoy your month!

Wellness Corner

  Letting Go
   By Dr. Lynn Migdal

Wellness at any Age, It’s an Inside Job!

Total Wellness comes when the mind, body and spirit are at peace, balanced and in a state of Gratitude!

So, if we keep yearning for what was or what could never be, instead accepting what is,  or if  we keep thinking about what is wrong, instead of how we are blessed, it will not be long before we will cause muscle spasms, spinal misalignments, pinched nerves and lower our immune system’s ability to fight off disease.

Our thoughts, feeling and emotions run the electrical circuits of our bodies (the nervous system), and if we stay in the negative realm too long, most likely we will create disease in our bodies. Our nervous system and our muscular and spinal systems are very reactive to STRESS!

Pshyco-Immuno-Neurology is a new field in medicine but, Natural Holistic Healers have been teaching this theory for hundreds of years. Finally, research is now documenting that Emotional Stress causing stress to our Nervous Systems is one of the major causes of disease.

Simply put, your mind and feelings affect your nervous system and since your nervous system runs  your immune system it affects your state of health and wellness.  This means that your positive thoughts are healthy and healing and your stuck negative thoughts can be deadly and destroying your health. The magic about this is that we get to choose our thoughts, our feelings and our state of Health. We are totally in control of whether we want to create higher and higher states of wellness and prevent disease.

So if you want to be healthy, help your nervous system to be strong by watching your thoughts and deleting those damaging thoughts that are destroying your health. Take a deep breath when you catch yourself thinking those negative thoughts and replace those thoughts with something you are thankful for in the here and now!

Holding on to resentments, and not working through your anger can cause your blood to turn acidic and cause you pain and disease.

When we refuse to forgive and not let go of negative past incidents, we are the only ones who suffer. So forgiveness and letting go of the negative past, is an act of Self Love, a Selfish thing we do to heal Ourselves. We get to choose what we want to hold on to and what we want to release.  Where is your mind most of the day? Who have you chosen not to forgive? Why are you not letting it all go and stopping yourself from experiencing blissful, joyful feelings and Healing thoughts? You can choose non-toxic food, be on an organic diet and create sickness an disease with an abundance of toxic thoughts!

Are you in the future, stuck in fear, predicting terrible futures or are you visualizing the happy healthy dreams your really want to create? Are you in the past, playing a victim role, thinking of all that went wrong or are you looking at these experiences as learning lessons and growth spurts? It is all our own choice! We get to choose every second. Are you resentful or are you thankful? Are you stuck in fear, seeing horror movies or are you seeing wonderful futures with your mind?

Holistic Chiropractic adjustments relax muscles, relieve pinched nerves and undo the stress and harm that negative thoughts and emotions may be causing! Chiropractic adjustments remove the nerve pressure that negative thought and feelings can create. People feel very peaceful, free, relaxed and energized after a Chiropractic tune up. However it is up to the patient to keep working on the cause of the emotional stress to prevent further stress to the Psycho- Immuno-Neuro Complex.

20 years ago, dieticians said we are what we eat and psychologists said that we are what we think. Then, this was just a philosophy. Modern medical science is proving every day that our foods and our thoughts and our feelings affect our state of Health.

Wellness, at any age, it’s an inside job!

Society News and Updates

It has been a challenge for me to keep on the wellness path for so many years. Time and time again, we put our faith into those  health professionals that we Hope will Focus on us, and really take the Time and Energy to help  heal what ails us.

Throughout our lives, we all have had our health challenges, and I am no different. When I was thirty-five what I thought was constipation and hemorrhoids turned out to be colon cancer. Wow, talk about a misdiagnosis.

When a year later my mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer, I realized we had some heavy duty colon karma in my family.

I took the road of macrobiotic diets, cleansing, juicing, meditating, visual imageries etc. My mom, my best friend, had a different agenda in mind. I remember her telling me that it was too late for her, and she just wanted to do what she had to do. My mom continued to smoke cigarettes, went for chemotherapy and radiation, got a staff infection and died that same year. Mom was 65.

Today I continue to walk the road of better health and through the Women’s Wellness Society, fortunately connect  with like minded health practitioners that open their hearts and practices to me as well as to all of our fellow members. This month, I finally got up enough faith and courage to make an appointment for a colonic and really work on helping to keep up good colon health.

One woman who I define as an “Angel”, not only has shown her professional expertise in the field of Colon Hydrotherapy; but also shown her patience, kindness and knowledge to me over the last two weeks. I would like to acknowledge  Patti Pete from TLC Therapy in Boca Raton for continued encouragement, and for making such an awkward procedure tolerable and educating me on the continued maintenance of colon health. Your devotion to me as a patient, from the use of essential oils, to giving me reflexology during the session, playing soft healing music has gone far beyond my expectations. Patti’s soft voice and gentle aura creates a space where healing can manifest. Thank You Patti… For each and every person reading this column, I encourage you to listen very carefully to your body for any sign that our equipment may be malfunctioning and remember, don’t be an o strich putting your head in the sand, early detection is always best for beating the odds.

Patti Pete will be our March Sponsor at the Central Boca Meeting March 14th at Maggiano’s Restaurant!
