Bridging
the gap between Women and Wellness
|
Here's to
You!

by Kellie

|
Although it has only been 30
days since our last newsletter, and less than four months
since our inception, the buzz about the Women's Wellness
Society is quickly growing around
the nation. Each day we receive emails from women
looking to start a chapter in their city and looking to
take control of their health. I have truly
been amazed at some of the stories that have come in
about women overcoming health challenges. In
time we hope to share many of them with all of you!
This is such an exciting time
in my life as I have met so many amazing women that have
touched my heart in some way. I am learning so much from
our members and our speakers and I am anxiously bringing
that information home to my family as I hope you are as
well.
Education is the real focus
behind why the Women's Wellness Society
was created. Over the next year, you will be privy
to some of the most enlightening and cutting edge health
information that we can offer, both online and offline
and it will only get better with time. We are lining up
some of the most sought after health professionals to bring
you the necessary information to make the most informed
decisions regarding your health. |
This month we are busy
planning for our first ever retreat, A Soulful
Journey by the Sea. Women from all over
the country have emailed us regarding their excitement about
this event and the keynotes that will be speaking. A
woman in New Jersey wrote in that she knew of Barbara Brennan
and Laura Norman's curriculum from when she went through
health training several years back, at Our Lady of Lourdes
Wholistic Institute in Camden, NJ. She went on to say
that she was very impressed by the "dream team" of women that
we have put together for this special event. I have
to admit, I was impressed too!
All of our keynotes have
expressed their commitment to help continue the mission of
WWS. This conference will be a journey into our
lives in many different ways. It will empower us to make
the remainder of this year and many more, an evolution of who
we are and what our life purpose is. We hope that
you do not pass up the chance to spend this special time
with us. See you on the
beach!

"Feel Great about your
body (and yourself) again!"
|
I love to eat.
I used to wake up in
the morning planning what I was going to eat for breakfast,
lunch and dinner! I loved food and food was love for me. In my
family food was how we were given love. For most of my life I
was blessed because, even with my passion for food, I remained
thin. A few years ago my body caught up with my eating habits.
I weighed more than I had ever been before. I looked at thin
people with envy for the first time. I could finally relate to
my family and friends who were overweight with a new, deeper
understanding.
I tried several diet
programs. I tried exercise (though my heart wasn’t really in
it). I found it hard to commit to a diet regimen, and my
schedule/attitude did not allow for much exercise. During
college I had been a nutrition major for two years (before
majoring in special education). I remembered being taught that
unhealthy eating patterns are often a person’s response to
stress, tension, or loss of love. Instead of just treating the
symptoms through diet or exercise, I decided to treat the root
causes as well.
I
had been introduced to meditation and reflexology many years
before. Both provide deep levels of physical and emotional
relaxation. I later became a certified reflexologist. As my
practice grew I began introducing other techniques, including
meditation, visualization, and aromatherapy into my routine to
enhance and deepen my clients’ experiences.
Like
the expression, “we teach what we need to learn,” as I gained
weight I realized that the techniques I was using with my
clients could work for me as well in dealing with the causes
of my eating habits and weight gain. For example,
applying a grapefruit-infused lotion can curb your appetite.
And the thyroid is the gland that helps control metabolism.
Enhancing its function through reflexology can be effective in
controlling your weight.
I
also learned about the “chi machine,” a device that could trim
my waistline while giving my cardiovascular system the
equivalent of a 30-minute workout in only 5 minutes a
day! |
Now that’s the kind of
exercise I could handle. I found several techniques to help me
feel better about myself, including hypnosis (to change
behavior patterns), ongoing support and counseling, stress
management, Thai yoga (to relieve stress and balance the body
energetically), thinking and speaking positively, focusing my
intentions, and even improving my skin (when you look great,
you feel great).
So, how did I do? Today I
feel great about myself and about how I look. I achieved the
weight I chose for myself. And… I still love to eat. Only now
I eat smaller portions, allow myself those “special”
meals without feeling guilty, and I have found other,
healthier ways to receive love and to love myself.
After my own experience, I
knew I had to share all that I had learned by incorporating
these techniques into my practice. I get a great deal of
satisfaction from helping both men and women address their
concerns with stress, weight, health and well being using
these techniques. I often have couples, friends or family
members sharing together the relaxing pleasures of
reflexology. And when one person experiences the power within
themselves through reflexology, Thai yoga, and the other
techniques I offer, they frequently buy a gift certificate for
their partner, child or parent to introduce them to these
healing techniques.
I encourage you to experience
your own power, and to really feel great about yourself
again.

August
August is my favorite
month. You may ask yourself, why August? I would
answer because it is my birthday month. I have always
taken the whole month to reflect on the past year and set
forth a clean slate with new goals that I can look forward to.
This year has been especially exciting with new creations
emerging such as the renovation of my home, the emergence of
The Women’s Wellness Society, a new grandson, newfound
friendships and new business opportunities. As I look forward
to the close to these hot summer days, I feel refreshed,
thinking of the days ahead and all the upcoming wonderful
challenges that lie ahead.
Our August 12th
meeting at Maggiano’s was another huge success, with 61 women
and one lost gentleman, enjoying newfound knowledge.
“Unlocking the Power of your Mind” was the lecture topic
given by Melody Smith of Integrative Health Services. We
all learned the power behind self hypnosis.
East Boca Chapter kickoff this
week
August 24th will
be the debut of our East Boca Chapter at The American
Café in Mizner Park from 11:30-1:30. Welcome to
our new chapter leaders, Staci Smith and Joelle Meehan.
Make your reservations now for this exciting meeting as
Daphne Solomon will speak on “Bio- Meridian
Energy”.
New Chapter opening in Delray Beach,
Florida
September 20th
will be the first meeting in Delray Beach at Ellie’s Diner at
7PM and we welcome Chapter Leader Stacey Joiner to our
team. Networking always begins a half our before our
meetings. The lecture will be given by Dr. Scott
Shapiro, police officer turned Naturopathic
Doctor. I had the pleasure of meeting with
Scott this past week and we are all in for an evening packing
with information on September 20th as we learn
more about Digestive Tract Health.
Referral gift if you locate a new Chapter
Leader
As we set our mission into
motion of “Bridging the gap between Women and Wellness,”
new chapters will be opening across the
county. If you know someone who may be
interested in becoming a Chapter Leader, please email Kellie
at kellie@womenswellnesssociety.com. We are offering a
referral gift of $100 for your
recommendation, which will be paid when the new chapter
reaches a membership of twenty.
Sponsorship
Opportunities
Meeting
Sponsors are a great way for our members to learn
about you and your business. The cost is $200 for the meeting
which includes a five minute presentation, a business profile
on the Meeting Program and your logo/link on our site for one
month. We also offer table sponsorships for $50 where you can
network with our members, display products and
materials and stand out among the others.
Our Charity of Choice
This year we will focus on fundraising
for The Breast Cancer Fund. We have
done lots of research in locating a charity that was in
line with our beliefs. This organization was
recommended to us by some of our members and we are happy to
be able to raise money to benefit their cause. The
Breast Cancer Fund focuses on research that protects us and
our children from environmental toxins in our products.
You may find out more information on this charity by going to
their site at www.breastcancerfund.org.
Donations
We are looking for
raffle prize donations for The Soulful Journey
Retreat that will help us to raise money for our
charity, The Beast Cancer Fund. If you have a creative
gift, product or service that you can donate, please call
myself at 561-376-6424. We are also in need of gently
used books on the subjects of mind, body, spirit, or
other health related topics to be used in conjunction with our
charity efforts for that weekend. We will make arrangements to
pickup or have a drop off site to be announced.

The Role of Energy Healing in
Preventive Care and Maintenance

Lisa
VanOstrand is Dean of Advance Studies for the Barbara
Brennan School of Healing. She received her Doctorate in
Medical Qigong (China) in 2004, Jiramuk Yoga
Certification in 1999, Core Emergencies Therapists in
1997 and received her MBA in 1979. Lisa will be
lecturing on the role of energy healing in preventative care
and maintenance. Science tells us that we live in a sea
of energy, this energy directly impacts how we feel. By
learning how to work with this energy and our own energy
fields, Lisa will show us how we can have tremendous impact on
our health and well being. Additionally, how we can help
prevent future disease and illness.
Releasing your Inner Sex
Goddess

Dr. Marcy
Dater-Weiss is not just a Sex therapist, she is a
friend. Sometimes individuals have a difficult time
discussing problems related to sexuality. Some may feel
embarrassed or inhibited to talk abut their sexual
issues. Many people feel become isolated and
express to her that they feel like they are the only one
that has this problem. Dr. Weiss strives to insure that her
clients feel safe, comfortable, and not judged in talking
about sexual problems. Problems related to relationship
therapy, inhibited desire, arousal, or performance problems
are common and are brought into therapy. Education is
the first step in assisting clients and making them feel more
comfortable. Many clients feel relived when they realize
they are not alone and others have experienced the same
concerns. |

Take 1 head of cauliflower and cut up and steam till soft and

The idea that the home can be a healthy or unhealthy

“household toxics” and “indoor air pollution” have been coined only
within the past few years as the medical and scientific communities
have begun recognizing that common household chemicals can have
adverse effects on our health.
Household cleaning products are among the most toxic

educate ourselves.
